Hi we’re Hector & Caroline Torres. Welcome to Mexico This Way, a blog where we share everything we know about traveling to Mexico and visiting this amazing country.
Although we live in the United States, throughout our lives we have travelled extensively across Mexico, experiencing all the beauty and diversity of this fantastic travel destination.
We are both fluent Spanish speakers, and have most of our extended families located throughout Mexico. This has allowed us to gain an intimate knowledge of Mexico and we want to share all we’ve learned with you.
Mexico is such an important part of our lives, that we decided to hold our wedding in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Our beautiful wedding allowed our families to attend our special day, and even had some of our American friends traveling to Mexico for the first time.

I was born in the USA but since the day I was born have been traveling to Mexico for extended trips every single year. I’m excited to share my Mexico travel trips and insights with our readers.
I have had the fortune to experience the wonders of central Mexico, places like Guadalajara, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Colima, and the many towns in the surrounding areas.
I look forward to sharing everything I know about traveling to Mexico, from both the viewpoint of someone intimately knowledgeable of the local customs and traditions, and as a tourist wanting to enjoy Mexico.
About Hector
I grew up in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico and have lived in Southern California since beginning Middle School in Orange County, CA. Through the years I have had the opportunity to explore almost every corner of the best Baja has to offer, the amazing beaches of Rosarito, the food and wine of Ensenada, the isolated fishing towns that dot the Gulf of Cortez, and the best the big cities have to offer.
I have also travelled throughout much of the rest of Mexico, exploring the Pueblos Magicos, beach resorts, and enjoying the culture, food and drink that this amazing country has to offer.
I am excited to share my Baja and Mexico travel tips with all of you. From the minutiae of how to cross the border, using Mexican airlines and airports, and driving in Mexico, to reviews about the best restaurants, hotels, and things to do in various travel destinations in Mexico.
